Tinubu's Company In N100Billion Fraud, Money Laundering?

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is considering a petition written against Alpha Beta Consulting and the petition will undergo processing.

A former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Alpha Beta Consulting, Mr. Dapo Apara, had accused the firm of tax fraud to the tune of N100bn.

In the petition which was written by his lawyer, Adetunji Shoyoye and Associates, the ex-CEO claimed that the fraud had been covered by powerful politicians in the state.

The petition signed by Adetunji Adegboyega on behalf of the law firm, read in part, “Over the years the company has been protected and shielded by some powerful politicians and people in the society which made them to always boast of being untouchable, but our client, feeling the need not to keep quiet again and strengthened by his belief in the fact that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is keen on fighting corruption, which has been the bane of our country, is of the firm belief that it’s time to expose and open the can of worms called Alpha Beta Consulting.”

More Senators Threaten To Dump APC...And Here's Why

Some senators are threatening to leave the ruling All Progressives Congress and join forces with the opposition should the party fail to adopt direct primaries for the 2019 elections.

Why are some Governors afraid of the Direct Primaries option?

Some of the lawmakers who spoke with PREMIUM TIMES warned that the party will experience mass defection if it fails to adopt the direct primaries.

They alleged that some governors are applying pressure on the national leadership of the party to adopt indirect primaries to choose candidates for the 2019 elections.

If the party adopts the usual indirect primary, the senators said, the party will lose its majority status at the Senate. For them, the only way to reclaim leadership of the senate is an assurance of direct primaries by the party.

Direct primaries involves the participation of all party members in the selection of party candidates while indirect primaries involves use of delegates, often party leaders at local levels and political appointees as well as elected officials, to elect party candidates.

National Broadcasting Commission?condemns the demolition of Yinka Ayefele?s Radio house in Ibadan
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has condemned the demolition of the structure housing the Fresh FM in Ibadan by the Oyo State Government. The Director-General of NBC, Ishaq Midibbo-Kawu, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria said the demolition was a worrisome development and did not speak well of the state government.
Modibo-Kawu said: “The development is worrisome because for all it is worth, the broadcast outfits are playing a big role in reducing unemployment, especially in this situation where many young Nigerians are idle. They also play social, informational, educational and entertaining roles in the society. Such development does not speak well of the government and has a negative effect on the nation, especially at a point when more broadcasting outfits are influencing the social space in the country. In this case particularly, there are so many issues that can be weaved up negatively by people. We hope that as we move forward, we will be able to find a solution to the situation”.

The director-general said when the NBC got hint of the demolition, he made some contacts with some people in the state. He said he could, however, not stop it. The NBC boss promised to set up a meeting with the state government on finding a way forward on the issue.
